Cash Memorials Wills Trusts Appreciated Securities Gifts of Life Insurance Restricted & Unrestricted Gifts

The simplest and most popular of all charitable donations is a gift of cash through or a pledge of cash over a period of months or years. Making a pledge gives you the flexibility to budget your charitable donations over a time period that best meets your needs. You may mail your check to Lee Health Foundation, PO Box 2218, Fort Myers, Florida 33902. Please be sure to include a note letting us know whom to thank! Many find it convenient to give by using either MasterCard, VISA, Discover Card, or American Express. You may make a gift by credit card by calling The Foundation office at 239-343-6950. Please click here to find out more about how to make a gift online

Lee Health Foundation accepts donations given in honor, or in memory, of a loved one, special friend, or associate. A letter is sent to the honoree or relative to inform them of this special gift. Please be sure to let us know your gift is a memorial or honor gift and include the name and address of the person who should be notified of your thoughtfulness. In the event of the death of a loved one with a special interest in Lee Health, you might want to consider including the following statement in his/her obituary: “The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lee Health Foundation, PO Box 2218, Fort Myers, FL 33902.” Please call our office at 239-343-6950 for more information.

Many donors find it convenient to make gifts to Lee Health Foundation through a bequest which is simply a gift made through a will. While everyone should have a will, less than half of all Americans have one. Click here to see why you need a will. Please click here for a document containing sample bequest language and provisions that may be useful for you and/or your attorney.

In addition to making a will, many people decide to include revocable living trusts and charitable remainder trusts as part of their estate plans. These mechanisms have long been used to help property owners safeguard their assets and distribute them to others in accordance with their wishes. Your financial advisor and/or attorney can tell you how creating a trust can help reduce or eliminate income, estate and gift taxes; minimize the expense and delays of the probate process; create a source of income for loved ones; and other potential benefits.

Appreciated Securities

Donating stocks that have increased in value provides greater tax advantages than cash. The market value of securities is deductible (subject to applicable limitations) and the donor avoids paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.

Gifts of Life Insurance

By naming Lee Health Foundation as beneficiary and assigning ownership of the policy to the Foundation, you can secure a valuable income tax deduction. Policies that are no longer needed – perhaps one purchased to provide protection for dependent children who are now grown or as part of a business partnership – often provide an excellent giving opportunity.

Restricted and Unrestricted Gifts

If you wish, you can allow us to apply your donation to meet our most urgent needs. This type of unrestricted gift may be used to help numerous hospital services. If you wish to designate your gift for a specific purpose, we ask that you contact us so we can be sure we carry out your wishes
